how
sir,
With reference to my momerial of 13th March last, I
have new boa infermod that His Excellency the Gevorner
cannot permit me to retire until the conclusion of poacó,
and further that I am te bo rotained on my present salary.
2. This entails groat hardship, as, bosides being
cempollod te romein in a sörvice in which I have boon
discredited, I chall ouffer much pocuniary less owing to
the oxtremely high cost of living in this Colony, and te
the necessity of sending my two children te school in
Canada.

draw his ponsion from the age of 55, falling my spocific

does not exist as it is proposed to retain me in the service,
evon against my eriginal intention. My pension would
approximately be half my prosont salary and, under the
prepescd conditions, the Government would receive the
bonerit of my sorvicos from the 4th July next at half
Lovey
salary.

4. Such being so, I urgently request that I may be
allewod te retire from the servico er, failing that, that my prosont appointment be determined on the 4th July oxt, the
dato en which I shall attain the age of 55, and that my ponsion be fixed as ens frem that day, and that from that date my appointment be a temperary ens. My salary and allowancos would naturally bo net less than that which I would be entitled to receive if I continued on the permanent staff, viz:- $855 per month (which includes contribution
